Areponapuchi and Divisadero

On Sunday we grabbed a bus to somewhere near Areponapuchi and Divisadero. We thought we had one more stop to go, but an old man stopped the bus and convinced us to stay at his accommodation - La Casa de los Abuelos. It was pretty basic, but still cool. Would have changed the cold showers though! Water from big tanks, and it was FREEZING in the morning; I thought my ears were going to fall off!

The old man found a guide for us and after raiding a local store for some food (slim pickings) we headed off on a 6 hour hike down and through some of the canyon. I packed my pink shoes, but decided to brave the walk with my Havianas (thongs/flip flops) until the terrain got too dangerous. Falling over a cliff versus blisters, hmmm good choice hey! The view was amazing, but the guide was walking really fast and I spent a lot of the time concentrating on the path! Most of the walk was fine, but once we hit the halfway mark and had to start going back up I was struggling a bit! You may like to blame it on old age or being unfit, but I blame it on the hight above sea level - 2.4km. I was puffing! (Being stiff from the horseriding didn´t help either!) But I made it in the end. The owner´s wife cooked us a yummy BBQ dinner and I slept like a log that night!

The room had the strangest light - just a plain light globe, but it had two electricity plugs on the side of it - check out the photo! We also couldn´t lock our door with a key, but had to use a wooden plank! But with 6 of us in the room, I think we were pretty safe!
