Girls Weekend in Paris

Paris

Roxy and I went to Paris for a long weekend away from the boys! We caught the Eurostar which I must say in many ways is better than flying, you only have to get to waterloo half hour before the train leaves (waterloo is close to the middle of the city- not like the airports!) your ears dont pop, and you get bigger seats than when you are flying. we got to Paris at about 930pm and stupidly didnt take a map with us but luck was on our side. We took a while to comprehend the underground, London is much easier! And worked out we needed to catch 3 trains to get to our hotel which wasnt actually in paris but not that far out either!

When we were near our stop we got our first glimpse of the eifel tower It was sparkling and very pretty. Getting off the train we realised that we had the address of the hotel but no map so it was just fortunate that outside the train station there was a map of the areas with the all the hotels on it, very convenient. It ended up being just down the street. We put our bags in the hotel and then went for a walk around our local area. the first thing we noticed was the smell.. The same smell I found in Spain... Pee. But after a while you dont notice it as much.

The next day we did all the touristy things, we went to the arc de triumphe, climed up the top for a higher look of paris. We then took a stroll down chmps elysee and headed for the louvre... which is absolutely huge and there is no chance you could see everything in one visit.

That night we joined a tour and went for diner on the eifel tower. The food wasnt the best however the tour was definately worth it just for the pure fact that we didnt have to line up for hours on the bottom. The tours get through to the front of the line! Didnt get all the way to the top though. We had limited time due to part of the tour being a cruise on the river after dinner. So I will have to go back with josh and head for the top then!

The next day we went to see sacre coeur (not sure of spelling) which is beautiful and worth the walk up the hill even if you are sick of walking! But just watch out for the gypsies trying to sell bracelets! They stop you and ask for your finger and then they make a bracelet from some srting they tie around your finger, once made you then HAVE to pay them apparently. Roxi got stopped by one who litterally would not let her past. She had to yell at him and barge past. We also went to Notre Dame and climed all the way to the top. It hurt! but again it was worth it. I think there was about 300-400 steps, Ive done more than that before but that still makes my legs jelly.

We also went to the Moulin Rouge for a show. It wasn't what I expected but I really enjoyed it, even if some bits were so corny you just have to laugh!
