Pan African Bookfest 2007

Artist-in-Residence and Women in Jazz |

From April 11 -21, 2007, I am the appointed Artist-in-Residence for the 5th Pan African Bookfest, in Fort Lauderdale, spearheaded by Broward Libraries Outreach Director Tanya Simons-Oparah. The keynote speaker is Amiri Baraka.

On April 13, 16 and 18, I presented my Women in Jazz Workshop at Broward Schools: Parkway Middle, William Dandy Middle and Broward Community College North Campus in the OMNI Theater, where BEACN, the School TV Network broadcast the event throughout the school system.

On April 19, I launch my book, IN PURSUIT OF A MELODY and the acompanying CD, and present Women in Jazz to the general public at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC).

This is a great honor and I am grateful for the opportunity to launch my book and cd in my favorite place, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Love and music,
