Women in Jazz Lecture in China

Diva JC lectures expat kids at International School of Tianjin |

Today, I gave my first lecture in China, on WOMEN IN JAZZ. I've given this lecture to over 5,000 kids in the U.S.A., but this was the first opportunity I had to give the lecture/concert to kids in Asia.

All of the kids spoke English and they really enjoyed themselves. I could tell by the smiles on their faces, which you can see in the photos.

I was accompanied by their music teacher, David Grierson, who arrived in Tianjin, only three weeks ago. David is great accompaniest. I tried to get him to quit and go on the road with me, but he says he loves the kids, the school and his job too much for that! LOL

I am grateful to Steve Moody, Assistant Principal of the International School of Tianjin, who heard me at Broadies and was very receptive to my coming to the school to give the lecture. He arranged for me to meet David, who also visited Broadies and said he enjoyed my show there with the Doobie Doo Band. I'd also like to thank Principal Nick
Bowley for getting me Paid! and Teresa Wang for her assistance and tender loving care!

This is my last week in Tianjin. I'm moving on to Japan, next week. But I know I'll be back to help Chris Hagen build the first jazz club in Tianjin - Broadies Tavern.
